Who THEY ARE:
Reaching Objectives through Joint Actions (ROJA) of Suitland, MD.

What THEY DO: Helps youth from troubled families and needy local residents, providing resources from after-school tutoring to a place to stay.

“Twenty years ago, I said to God, ‘There’s so much neglect. Someone should do something.’ And God said to me, ‘Why not you?’”

– Janice Euell, Founder

Euell What can a nonprofit with just two staff members accomplish on a small budget? Plenty, if you’re Janice Euell, the founder of Reaching Objectives through Joint Actions. For 20 years, she has provided after-school education, financial help, shelter and day-to-day support for children from needy families – transporting kids to and from school, providing clothing and shoes, helping students get to their proms, and providing other services that let kids know someone cares.

WINNERS' WORDS:
“There are so many children suffering from varying degrees of neglect. It has been hard, but we are glad that we’re able to reach hundreds of kids and their families. I used to say that if I could help one child, I’d be satisfied. But the next ‘one child’ keeps coming up!”
