Literacy training, home repairs and care for women with HIV were the winning themes at Acacia Federal Savings Bank’s Nice Guys Awards on October 2. Winners of the fourth annual awards were announced at a luncheon in McLean, Va.
Barbara Krumsiek, chair, CEO and president of Calvert Group, Ltd., joined Acacia chairman and CEO James Barber as co-host. Last year, Washingtonian magazine named Krumsiek one of the "150 Most Influential People in Washington D.C." Calvert, a leader in socially responsible investing, is a sister company of Acacia.
The awards recognize people in the metro area who excel in volunteering, philanthropy and customer service. Each winner receives $3,000 for their chosen charity; runners-up receive $1,000 for the charity of their choice.

About the Nice Guys Awards
The Nice Guys Awards were instituted in 2005 by Acacia Federal Savings Bank of Falls Church, Va. as a community-focused celebration of its 20th anniversary. The response was so positive the bank has made the awards an annual event.
“The awards allow us to share good news -- recognizing people who are making a difference in the D.C. area through hard work, high standards and helping others,” says Nancy Davis, senior vice president. To learn more about Acacia Federal, visit our homepage.
